Obtaining his bachelor’s degree in business and economics from Virginia Military Institute, Michael Erin served in the US Armed Forces - Army as a captain, and directed medical aid for more than 200 soldiers. As the director of operations and chief of staff at Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance, Michael Erin currently oversees the operations of the regional economic development company. As a baseball fan, Mr. Erin enjoys watching Major League Baseball’s (MLB) Chicago Cubs. Winning the National league (NL) Central Division, the Cubs accomplished this feat by having a good defense, good pitching, and claiming two NL’s Most Valuable Player candidates in Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant. Following are five specific moments in the 2016 season that helped the Cubs capture their first division title since ‘08. The return of Dexter Fowler on February 28th helped the Chicago Cubs regain their leadoff batter and allow Jason Heyward to return to right field. Willson Contreras’ debut at Wrigley Field on June 19th afforded the young catcher to stroke a two-run, pinch-hit homer against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The 15 inning game on June 15th, defeating the Cincinnati Reds, saw three Chicago Cubs pitchers, Travis Wood, Spencer Patton, and Pedro Strop, all share time in the outfield. On June 27th, MLB history was made when Kris Bryant recorded two doubles, three home runs, six runs-batted-in, and scored four runs himself against Cincinnati. Finally, acquiring Aroldis Chapman on July 25th helped strengthened the Cubs’ bullpen with the addition of the 100 mph fastball pitcher.
